Jonathan Crookes was a Little Mester that was located on Scotland Street, appeared with his famous Heart & Pistol Makers Mark in directories in 1774, 1787, and 1797. This is an individual that through his family built a business that by 1871, employed 50 employees. The last member of the Crookes family passed away in 1896 and the name was purchased by another company. A fantastic achievement over the lifespan of this company. During the 1950’s, H.M. Slater acquired the heart and pistol mark, which it continued to stamp on Bowies and other knives until about 1990. These knives were usually made by outworkers, such as the famous Graham Clayton and highly sought after Little Mester Stan Shaw. This makes this knife incredibly rare, truly a part of Sheffield History steeped in heritage. This would make a fantastic addition to anyones collection.
The length of the blade is 11″ (27.5cm). The total length of the knife is 40cm. The total weight of the knife is 540g.
An Incredibly Rare Bowie Knife that will not be seen again. Do not miss the opportunity to own this piece of Sheffield history today.
