Description

On offer today is a beautiful set of  18 & 18 (36 pieces in total) Sterling Silver Knives & Forks bearing a Private Pattern, exclusive to Joseph Rodgers and Sons, never to be replicated. Truly a very rare and magnificent set. In the 65 years of trading antiques and silverware, this is the first time we have come across this pattern, it has only ever been seen by us in Rodgers’ pattern book. As the images show, the set is in immaculate condition for its age.

Each knife and fork is fully hallmarked for 1840 – 1858 with The Lion Passant, Crown and the Monarch’s Head (Queen Victoria). There is no date letter present on this set, however, the shape and style of the Monarch’s Head provides provenance of the set being manufactured between 1840 and 1858. The pattern book we have in our archives shows this pattern present in 1842.

Manufactured by the very sought after Joseph Rodgers & Sons Ltd signified by the JR Makers Mark. The Queens Jeweller. The handles are in perfect condition as the images show and look fantastic.

The Knives measure 21cm long and weighs 50g each.

The Forks measure 17.5cm long and weighs 35g each.

This set would grace anyone’s home. A functional lot in a highly attractive pattern that cannot be replicated today. A phenomenal set as a gift that would cost an awful lot in a retail outlet today.
