Description

Welcome to The Sheffield Cutlery Shop!

A highly interesting Antique Sportsman’s Penknife dating to approximately 1900, incorporating a selection of specialist implements associated with the sporting and shooting traditions of the late Victorian/early Edwardian period.

Constructed with Carbon Steel Implements and Nickel Silver scales, this is much more than a conventional pocket knife, featuring a particularly useful combination of tools including:

  • Malin spike
  • Sheepfoot blade
  • Penknife blade
  • Bottle opener
  • Cartridge extractor

The cartridge extractor is an especially notable feature, reflecting the knife’s intended use by sportsmen and shooters. Tools such as these were designed to provide practical assistance in the field, making the knife a compact and versatile companion for the sporting gentleman.

The Knife weighs 74 grammes and measures 17 cms when fully open, and 9 cos when closed.

The inclusion of both traditional penknife blades and specialist sporting implements makes this an excellent example of the multi-purpose sporting knives produced around the turn of the 20th century.

Dating to c.1900, it represents an interesting period in the development of the sporting pocket knife, combining everyday utility with specialist equipment for the shooting field.

A very desirable piece for collectors of antique sporting knives, shooting memorabilia, Victorian/Edwardian tools and historical pocket knives.

Our work is our passion, we only provide quality products and services. This is a wonderful knife that will only increase in value over time.
