On offer today is a Sheffield Carved Mother of Pearl Handled Letter Opener. The piece bears the Lion Passant (English Silver), the Crown (for Sheffield Assay Office) and the date letter D for 1896. The handle is Mother of Pearl, deep and rich with a range of colour reflecting in the light – truly a magnificent piece. Pristine condition. Total length 22cm and weight 49 grammes. The piece also bears the Makers Mark J.A.S – the Makers Mark for the highly sought after J. A. Scholes. Supplied with a presentation case.
