On offer today is a phenomenal set of Six Pairs of Knives and Forks sterling silver heads and carved Mother of Pearl handles in pristine condition. As the photos reflect the Knives and Forks are a perfect example of what Sheffield/London Silversmiths could manufacture. All the knives and forks are assayed in London.
Each knife and fork are fully hallmarked for 1920 with The Lion Passant, Leopards Head, date stamp (e) for 1920. Manufactured by the highly sought after Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company. The pearl handles are in great condition as the images show and look fantastic. G&S Co Ltd only used the finest of materials; this is shown in the rich colours of the Mother o’ Pearl & the thick gauge of the Silver Blades. The ferrules are also hallmarked – this time by Harrison Brothers & Howson (George Howson), Sheffield 1921 shown by the date letter b.
The Knives measure 19 CMS and weigh 40 Grammes.
The Forks measure 15.5CMS and weigh 31 Grammes.
This set would grace anyones home. A functional lot in this highly attractive pattern, a great set as a gift and would doubtless cost an awful lot in a retail outlet today.
These are perfect for use all year round, easy to maintain, grasp the opportunity to be able to own this lovely set today!
